Adelheid Rigo

Adelheid Rigo studied Philosophy (MA), Moral Sciences (BA) and Clinical Psychology (MA) at the ‘Vrije Universiteit Brussels’. Her PhD in Philosophy focused on respect for the autonomy of persons. She is professor in the interuniversity postgraduate ‘Practical Humanism’ (VUB, UGent, deMens.nu). At Odisee, Brussels she teaches ethics and bioethics.

Her research focuses on bioethical issues raised at the beginning and the ending of life. She researches bioethical questions about genetic information, prenatal diagnosis, Nipt, PGD/HLA and end of life decision making.

Adelheid Rigo is member of several research groups: SSAB (Secular Studies Association Brussels), EtHu (Centre for Ethics and Humanism) and of the research Centre of Family Studies at Odisee. She also a member of the Scientific Council of CAVA (‘Centrum voor Academische en Vrijzinnige Archieven’).
