Alexander Meert

Alexander Meert (1976) obtained his master’s degree from the History Department at VUB in 1998. His master thesis focused on the historical function and importance of the god Neptune within the Roman religious experience. Since 2007, he has been employed as an assistant of prof. dr. Paul Erdkamp within the History Department of VUB. He obtained a PHD degree on the social and philosophical analysis of positive atheism in Antiquity at UGent in 2017. His main field of research involves the existence of freethought in the ancient world.

As of November 2024, Alexander will be working on an FWO Weave Application linked to an OZR Eutopia seed funding project.
