Dimokritos Kavadias
Biography
Dimokritos Kavadias is an associate professor at the Department of Political Science of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He studied political science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and obtained a degree in political science in 1991. He started out as a researcher on themes of urban policy (1993) and social integration of immigrants in Brussels (1995). From 1996 onwards, his research focused on education and young people. He obtained his PhD in Political Science at the Free University of Brussels in 2004 with the dissertation “The school as a political learning environment. The (limited) influence of secondary education on politically relevant attitudes of young people in Flanders”. After working as a researcher in sociology at the UIA, as a guest lecturer at the VUB and as a PhD assistant (Education and Training Sciences) and guest lecturer (Master in Social Work) at the University of Antwerp, he started working as a lecturer at the VUB. He has been director of the Brussels Information, Documentation and Research Center (BRIO) since 2015.
