Kim Descheemaeker
Biography
Kim Descheemaeker graduated from the History Department at Ghent University in 2016. During her studies she had the opportunity to study a year at Uppsala University in Sweden as an Erasmus exchange student. Her Master’s thesis explored the socioeconomic alterations of the inhabitants of the Brussels Huidevettersstraat between 1930 and 1950. In 2016 she started working as heritage consultant at CO7, the inter-municipal partnership for culture and heritage in the southern Westhoek (Belgium). Since 2017 she is active as Historical Researcher at Liberas in Ghent. Her research interests relate to 19th- and 20th-century history of liberalism, women’s rights and business history. She is interested in the translation of scientific research to a broad public, e.g. through publications in heritage journals, the development of workshops for children and resources for teachers, and the organisation of events and activities.
