Loïk De Clerck
Biography
Loïk De Clerck is a TVO (Talent for Research Honours program) master’s student in History at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He recently spent a semester as an Erasmus student at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where he broadened his perspective on history in an international environment.
As a student-researcher for SSAB, Loïk contributes to the ongoing cataloguing of Belgian freethinking journals and helps senior members in developing a digitalisation project to support long-term preservation and accessibility of these key archival collections.
Loïk’s academic interests lie in political history, the historical study of religions, the Liberal Party, and colonialism. He has previously gained experience as a student assistant at SHOC on the Ancestor Tale project (summer 2024) and through his participation in the House of European History’s ECHOES project (September 2024–June 2025).
