Steven Geusens
Biography
Steven Geusens holds a Master’s degree in History (2020) and a Master’s degree in Archaeology and Art Sciences (2022), both from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). His first thesis, focusing on the concept of fear in Epicureanism, was awarded the De Bock-Doehaerd Award 2020. His second master’s research examined the integration of Mithraic worship within the Roman world.
His research interests lie at the intersection of philosophical, religious, intellectual, and conceptual history, with a particular focus on the ancient world. Since November 2024, he has been affiliated with SSAB as a scientific collaborator, funded through the EUTOPIA seed funding of the VUB Research Council, contributing to the development of an FWO WEAVE application.
Within SSAB, Steven has delivered several academic presentations and is currently preparing several articles. As of October 2025, he joins an interuniversity research project on the historical development of the concept of evil, funded through the Erasmus funds of the joint research group Brussels Center for Religious and Secular Studies (BCRS).
